Horses
The equines at Serenity go through 3 stages. Sanctuary, Adoptable, and Adopted.
Sanctuary
Equines in our Sanctuary program are not ready for adoption. All new arrivals start in this stage. We assess their health, temperament, training, etc. After an initial assessment is made, the equine is given a plan to address any health or temperament concerns. Equines often arrive underweight and in need of learning how to trust again.
Equines in the Sanctuary program are frequently re-evaluated to monitor their progress. Most are eventually able to progress to the Adoptable stage, however some equine, due to age or health, may be deemed permanent Sanctuary residents. See our Sanctuary Equine.
Adoptable
Adoptable equines are ready to find their forever homes. Adopting an equine is not like adopting a cat or dog. Equine can live to be upwards of 30 years old! We make sure potential adopters find a horse suited to their needs and desires, whether that be a field companion, an equine for riding, and/or even for show competitions. See our Adoptable Equine.
Adopted
Equines who have been adopted have found their forever homes! Adopted equine have the option of continuing their stay at Serenity through our boarding program. If the equine is taken to a different property, we make follow-up visits to make sure the adoption is going well. Serenity welcomes calls and updates from adopters, and is happy to assist where and when possible. See our Adopted Equine.
Sponsorship
Equines that are available for adoption or in our sanctuary program may be sponsored. Sponsorship is a great way to provide recurring support to a horse in need. $300 a month can provide complete care for a typical horse, but even $20 a month can help. Please contact us if you are interested in sponsorship.
See our Sponsorship page.
